Hello! I’m Amanda Penisten, the Founder & CEO of Finance Compass. I’m SO glad you’re here!!
Don’t laugh, but I discovered my PASSION for accounting and bookkeeping when I was in high school! I had a super excellent awesome teacher named Mrs. Skillern who opened my eyes to the wonders that are double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliations, general ledgers and SO much more.
It was an obvious choice to then obtain my bachelor’s degree in Accounting and subsequently an M.B.A. I studied for and sat for the CPA exam and passed all four parts.
In 2018 after 15 plus years in the corporate world, I formed my own tax and accounting firm – AMP Accounting Services. I still assist a small number of very amazing clients with their tax preparation every year and financial advisory work.
During this time working with people just like you, I discovered how sorely lacking our financial education in this country really is. 
Some of the things I saw: people not participating in 401k plans, no college savings for the kiddos, not knowing about much needed and much deserved tax breaks, not being able to do even basic bookkeeping for side hustles/small businesses, not understanding compound interest, should I go on? Sorry but this is the stuff of nightmares for folks like me…….
One day I said: “enough is enough.” Finance Compass was born and I’m here to help! 😊 We will figure out this accounting and tax “stuff” together. Come along with me…..
